Winter Tunes – The Playlist

Winter tunes

It’s my favourite time of the year and to kick off our ‘12 days of Christmas with Sarauta Magazine’, I will be sharing two of my playlists with you. One is my winter/holiday playlist and the second (in my next post right after this) is my traditional Christmas playlist. For those of you who have been asking, yes, I am back from my hiatus

One I’ve Been Missing by Little Mix

As you may already know, Little Mix is my favourite girl groups and they are really good vocalists. So this song was a really sweet holiday song that is definitely relatable because of the theme of going back home to the one(s) you love.

Last Christmas by Wham

I really love this Christmas classic by Wham. The super catchy tune of the song almost distracts you from the tale of heartbreak contained in the lyrics.

Just For Now by Pentatonix

This song paints a picture of the beauty and chaos of Christmas day with family. The food, the presents, the emotional stress, the clapbacks; all of it. It’s what makes Christmas with family, well, Christmas with family.

Charlie Brown by Coldplay

So this song is technically not a holiday song but I like listening to it this time of year. Perhaps it’s because it is titled ‘Charlie Brown?’ Not sure but it’s Coldplay so it’s definitely a good one.

Lover by Taylor Swift

This beautiful song by Taylor Swift really does ring true with all the Hallmark Christmas movies. The emotion in this song is just so sweet and warm.

Winter Wonderland/ Don’t Worry Be Happy by Pentatonix ft. Tori Kelly

I have always found the song ‘Winter wonderland’ amusing -in a good way – and this mashup with ‘Don’t worry be happy’ was much too enjoyable. This song has a special place in my heart because my nephew and I really jammed to it last Christmas.

That’s Christmas to Me by Pentatonix

Whenever December comes, there is this feeling of happiness that fills my heart. I get super elated because of the many things that Christmas represents. It’s a time to return home. A time to show appreciation. Time to celebrate love. Time to see family you haven’t seen in a long while and to fight with them lol. It is everything.

Back to December by Taylor Swift

All I have to say is that you cannot get to December and not listen to ‘Back to December’. It simply isn’t done.

Carol of the Bells by Destiny’s Child

I love their rendition of this Christmas classic. I thought the direction they took the song was really cool plus this is Destiny’s Child for crying out loud. What’s not to like?

All I Want for Christmas by Mariah Carey

This song is 25 years old this year! It is a Christmas classic that never goes out of style. It’s such a wonderful number and Mariah really is an amazing vocalist. I always love to listen to it.

I’ll be Home for Christmas by Michael Buble

This song tends to make me a little bit sad especially during Christmas’ that I won’t be home. Family is always what makes Christmas special for me. However, I love to listen to it every year as it tends to remind me of what I have at home; what’s always waiting for me.

Silver Bells by Bing Crosby

One of my absolute favourite things in December was driving around Abuja with my mom to look at the lights and decorations. I still look for that in every place I find myself. I think it’s always cool when a city embraces Christmas.

Sweater Weather by the Neighborhood

Honestly, I have no legit reason for this song being on this playlist other than the fact that it is sweater weather and I like the song.

This winter playlist is available on Apple Music and Spotify.
