It is nine days to Christmas day. The holiday season is one of the best times of the year. This is because it comes with a lot of fun activities. Sometimes we can get stuck or run out of options on what to do during this period. Below is a compilation of nine things to do this holiday.
– Go shopping
The Christmas holiday season is usually a time lots of shopping takes place. It will be advisable to start shopping early as prices of things rise during this period. The Nigerian government still has its borders closed, making it hard to tell if shopping will be fun. Notwithstanding, you can take advantage of the local stores where you are and get yourself food items, supplies, and gifts, etc.
– Attend a Carol of songs and nine lessons
Most churches and organisations will be hosting annual carol events and nine lessons during this holiday season. It will be nice to take advantage of one of them and attend. Try and bring someone along. It can be enjoyable when it is filled with more music than talking. It will be nice to enjoy some Nigerian symphonies.
Okay, yes I know COVID 19 restrictions have made this challenging. It is still possible to travel. Traveling within a country like Nigeria doesn’t require COVID 19 testing. Most holiday resorts and short stays (Get an Airbnb) are open to guests this period, as long as you stick to their covid rules. You can look up the different places across the country and choose the one that fits your budget. You can do this alone if you want to have some alone time or do this with friends and family.
– Visit famous places you haven’t been to in a while
Tourism in Nigeria has been porous, but there are still some places you can visit. You can try art exhibitions, the movies, kayaking, hiking and so much more.
– Spend time with family
We are usually busy throughout the year and don’t have much room for family time. The Christmas season can serve as a time to be with family and enjoy each other’s company. You can travel to the village or meet up with extended family members in a place of your choice. A family reunion won’t be a bad idea. Catch up on Christmas movies and keep it real.
– Attend festivals and carnivals
Different carnivals and celebrations will be taking place during this holiday season. It is vital to note COVID 19 guidelines and make sure they are observed before attending.
– Try out your famous recipes
Do you remember that recipe you have been planning to experiment with? The holiday season offers ample time for you to try that recipe out. You never know, it could turn out really nice. There are numerous recipes on the internet you can try out. Just do it.
– Get someone a gift
The holiday season is an excellent time to buy someone a gift. Something memorable that they will remember for a while.
– Catch up on some reading
The holiday season is also an excellent time to catch up on some reading. This will be a good option if you are not the going out type. You can always find a quiet place to read and reflect on what you read. Visit a bookstore and get yourself a lovely book to read.
I hope we all have a lovely time this Christmas season filled with love and fun memories. Cheers!!
